Meet Our OSS Team

Krystian Kalkowski
What’s your role at the company, and how would you describe it to a non-tech person?
I’m a Senior Product Manager in our Software Division. In simple terms, I help design, develop, and deliver technology solutions for hotels that make their operations smoother, safer, and more efficient. I connect the dots between what hotels need, what our developers can build, and how we can implement it successfully.
What’s a typical day for you here?
No two days are quite the same. Some days I’m meeting with hotel teams to understand their challenges, other days I’m working with our software developers to refine features or test new updates. I also keep an eye on timelines, coordinate with different departments, and ensure that every solution we roll out works seamlessly for our clients.
How did you get into this line of work?
I started in the hotel industry back in 2007, working my way up from porter to area manager. That hands-on experience gave me deep insight into hotel operations. From there, I moved into the Health & Safety department, helping to build and implement a company-wide management system. Later, I joined our Software Division, working on hospitality systems, project managing new tech, and eventually leading products. My background means I understand both the operational and technical sides of the business.
What skills or experience do you bring that help you excel in your role?
- 15+ years in hospitality operations and management
- First-hand understanding of hotel challenges and workflows
- Project & product management experience
- Strong problem-solving mindset and adaptability
- Passion for leveraging new technologies in practical ways
A project you’re especially proud of working on:
Helping to create and launch the Omni Hospitality System and leading the initial hotel implementations. It was a complex project that required balancing technical requirements with real-world hotel operations, and seeing it come to life was incredibly rewarding.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
The variety — each day brings a new challenge, just like my days in hotel operations. I enjoy finding ways to bring innovative technologies into hospitality in a way that really works for the people on the ground.
What’s one challenge you love tackling?
Translating complex tech into something easy for hotel teams to use. It’s all about bridging the gap between “high-tech” and “practical.”
How do you approach problem-solving in your role?
I listen to understand the real needs from the user’s perspective. Then I collaborate closely with developers and operations experts to create solutions that are functional, reliable, and user-friendly.
If a client could know one thing about how you work, what would it be?
I always think about the operational reality — not just what the system can do, but how it will fit into the day-to-day lives of the people using it.
Something about you that might surprise people:
Before moving into software, I spent over a decade working directly in hotels — from carrying luggage to managing multiple locations. It’s given me a unique perspective on the hospitality industry.
Hobbies or interests outside of work:
I love travelling, exploring new cultures, and playing video games.
If you weren’t doing this job, what would you be doing instead?
Most likely something still connected to hospitality — perhaps developing travel experiences or working directly in hotel operations again.
Favourite way to spend a weekend:
Enjoying a good coffee in the morning, exploring somewhere new (even locally), and relaxing with friends or a gaming session in the evening.
- First tech gadget you ever owned: Nokia 3210
- Coffee, tea, or…? Coffee, every time!
- Most-used app on your phone (that isn’t email): Likely Google Maps or a travel-related app
- Favourite office snack: Something quick and energising — like mixed nuts or chocolate

Daniel Paz
What’s your role at the company, and how would you describe it to a non-tech person?
I’m the Projects & Support Manager, which means I oversee our wide range of technology projects, act as one of the first point of contact for client questions or technical issues, and design software tools that make our systems faster, smarter, and more reliable.
What’s a typical day for you here?
My day often starts with coding a new script to help automate tasks for a customer or our internal team. I might be producing a new automated report that saves hours of manual work, answering client queries, or heading out to a site visit. I also plan upcoming installations with our engineers, making sure every project is set up for success from start to finish
How did you get into this line of work?
After leaving university, I joined Omni for a work experience opportunity. What began as a short-term role quickly turned into the most rewarding 2.5 years of my career so far.
What skills or experience do you bring that help you excel in your role?
Fluent in Python, and automation tools, I excel at turning repetitive manual tasks into efficient, accurate, and easy-to-use solutions. My experience in project management, customer service, and first aid means I can handle technical challenges while keeping people’s needs front and centre.
What’s a project you’re especially proud of working on?
Developing custom automation scripts and reporting tools that have transformed how our clients and internal team manage operations saving time, reducing errors, and providing insights they didn’t have before.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
Solving problems in ways that have an immediate, tangible impact, when I know something I built today will make someone’s workday easier tomorrow, that’s the best feeling.
What’s one challenge you love tackling?
When a customer comes to me with an issue I’ve never seen before then spending the time breaking it down to see how it was caused and coming up with a solution.
How do you approach problem-solving in your role?
I break problems into smaller, clear steps, test each part, and keep communication open with the client or team throughout. I also like to think creatively, sometimes the best solution isn’t the most obvious one.
If a client could know one thing about how you work, what would it be?
I treat every project as if it were my own business. I care about the result as much as you do, and I’ll work until it’s right.
What’s something about you that might surprise people?
Before working in tech, I was a certified Coffee Master at Starbucks — yes, I can make you a latte while discussing Python scripts.
Any hobbies or interests outside of work?
Travelling, sightseeing, and exploring new coffee shops around the world. I also enjoy tinkering with new tech tools in my free time.
If you weren’t doing this job, what would you be doing instead?
I’d probably be back behind the espresso machine, running my own coffee shop
Favourite way to spend a weekend?
A city break somewhere new: walking tours, local food, historical sites
First tech gadget you ever owned? Gameboy Colour in Yellow
Coffee, tea, or…? Americano with Soy milk (Fridays Soy Matcha Latte with Vanilla)
Most-used app on your phone (that isn’t email)? Spotify and NYT mini crossword/wordle/connections
Favourite office snack? Fruit (when Michelle isn’t stealing them)
